Our culminating will take place during the week of June 3rd. The exam for our course is on June 20th in room 329 at 8.30. Studying these corrected quizzes is a good place to start.
Here is the outline (note the attached file below):
Part A: Sight Passage - 35 marks total - A short excerpt from an opinion piece on film-making and story-telling. Includes a vocabulary bank.
7 Short Answer Questions (various mark values) will deal with oral storytelling, the parts of an opinion piece, summarizing important points, imagery, simile, metaphor and interpreting linguistic connections.
3 (X 5 marks each; Mythology, Macbeth) Paragraph Answer Questions will deal with morality and characters, authorship and Macbeth, and summarizing an opinion using specific examples from the passage.
Part B: (15 marks) Opinion Piece/Essay -- (Macbeth, The Odyssey) You will choose one of two essay questions and write a 5 paragraph opinion piece with a thesis and specific, but not necessarily quoted, examples. One question is on story patterns, the other on the major themes of one of our works.
Overall Language Conventions mark out of 20 will be based on Paragraph Structure, Clarity of Expression, Pronoun/Antecedent, Comma, Conjunctions.
